How to identify the right dumpster hinge

Three measurements identify nearly every dumpster hinge:

1. Pin diameter — typically 1/2", 5/8", or 3/4"
2. Bracket dimensions — overall length, width, and mounting-hole pattern
3. Mount style — weld-on or bolt-on

If you can send PRT a photo with a tape measure laid across the hinge, we can identify the part on the first look. If you have the container manufacturer and model, that's often enough by itself.

Complete hinge kits

PRT sells complete hinge kits that include the hinges, pins, mounting brackets, and fasteners required to replace both sides of a standard dumpster lid in a single SKU. This is faster and cheaper than buying individual components — and it ensures the parts match.

Hinges for HDPE plastic lids

HDPE plastic lids need a specific hinge approach — large flat washers, the right bolt torque, and sometimes a backing plate to prevent the plastic from cracking under load. PRT's HDPE-specific kits include all of these and ship with installation instructions.
