Lid failure is the most common reason commercial dumpsters get pulled from service. UV exposure, repeated force from collection-truck forks, and freeze-thaw cycles crack and warp lids faster than any other component. A failed lid means stormwater and environmental violations, OSHA-relevant pinch hazards, and pest complaints from the property owner.
How to choose
Identify the lid by three things: the dumpster type (front-load, rear-load, recycling, roll-off), the container manufacturer, and the size (2, 4, 6, or 8 yard). With those three details, PRT can match the right lid — or recommend a universal cuttable lid that fits. If the container has no data plate or the model is discontinued, send PRT a photo of the existing lid with a tape measure laid across it. To find the correct lid, we ask to measure from the center of the hinge line to the front of the can. We identify most lids on first look.

What's the difference between an S-series and Double wall dumpster lid?
S-series lids are PRT's standard-profile design used on most front-load and rear-load dumpsters. Double wall lids are a heavier-duty profile built for strength and harsher service conditions. Both are made from UV-stabilized HDPE and HMPE.
Can I get a replacement lid for an older or discontinued dumpster?
Yes. PRT's Universal Cuttable Lids are designed to fit nearly any container — you cut the lid to size in the field. Provide the container's outer dimensions and we'll ship a lid that can be trimmed to fit.
Are PRT dumpster lids compatible with Wastequip containers?
