Dumpster Bottoms & Replacement Bottoms

Replacement steel bottoms for commercial dumpsters and waste containers. PRT stocks standard sizes for 24-48 hour shipping and fabricates non-standard and custom bottoms to order. Fits any OEM dumpster.

What this page covers

The bottom of a commercial dumpster is the highest-stress structural component in the container. It carries the full loaded weight every day, takes direct impact from dropped loads (construction debris, restaurant grease, scrap), and corrodes from constant exposure to liquid waste and road salt. When the bottom fails, the container goes out of service — usually unexpectedly, often at the worst possible time.

PRT manufactures replacement bottoms in two configurations: Standard Bottoms (the most common dumpster footprints, kept in stock for 24-48 hour shipping) and Non-Standard Bottoms (built-to-order for legacy containers, custom-fabricated dumpsters, or oversized applications). Both are heavy-gauge steel with the same structural reinforcement pattern as OEM bottoms.

How to choose

Identify the dumpster by manufacturer, size (2, 4, 6, 8 yard), and style (front-load, rear-load, slant-bottom). If your container matches a standard footprint — most modern containers do — order from Standard Bottoms for 24-48 hour shipping. If you have a legacy or non-standard container, choose Non-Standard Bottoms and we'll fabricate to your dimensions. If you're not sure whether your container is standard or not, send PRT the outer dimensions and a photo of the existing bottom. Our team will work with you to find the correct size and quote.

Frequently asked questions

When should I replace a dumpster bottom instead of replacing the whole container?

A bottom replacement is typically half the cost of a new container and extends the dumpster's service life by 5-10 years. Replace the bottom if the side walls are still structurally sound. Replace the whole container if you see multiple structural failures (bottom + side walls + lid mounting points all degraded).

Are PRT dumpster bottoms compatible with Wastequip containers?

Yes. PRT bottoms fit Wastequip, and any OEM containers. Standard bottoms match the most common footprints; non-standard bottoms are fabricated to your container's exact dimensions.

What's the difference between Standard Bottoms and Non-Standard Bottoms?

Standard Bottoms are common dumpster footprints kept in stock — ships in 24-48 hours. Non-Standard Bottoms are built-to-order for legacy, oversized, or custom-fabricated containers — typically 1-2 weeks lead time.

How heavy is a replacement dumpster bottom?

Varies by size. A 4-yard standard bottom weighs roughly 200-300 lbs; an 8-yard runs 500+ lbs. Plan for forklift or crane installation; most replacements need two people minimum.
